I was the last sentry upon the rocky shore, a promise of hope and home to the seafarer; I fought Zeus and Poseidon and emerged majestic and proud, casting my beam into the dark waters so no man in my charge was ever lost.

Today I stand alone and abandoned, the ancient lighthouse a testament to an era long gone by; yearning for the odd visitor, waiting for the castle festival so as to be lit up for one last dance.

They look upon me and envy my timelessness; I look upon them and envy their mortality.

  1. Such a great tale! I love mythology and its true. We look at old buildings and admire their endurance..what if they envied our ability to end? I enjoyed reading this, thanks for sharing! 🙂
