Fandango’s Provocative Question #119:

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in life and who did you learn it from?

Life teaches us. Constantly. And just because life just has a wry sense of humour, half way through it decides to have a good laugh and say – You know all that profound stuff that I taught you? I was just shitting you. Forget it all. Now learn a new lesson.

Lesson 1: Don’t let them know that they hurt you… don’t give them the power.

Revised Lesson 1: If you don’t let them know that they are hurting you, they will keep on hurting you, cause they don’t know better.

Lesson 2: True love and true happiness is in looking beyond yourself and living for others.

Revised Lesson 2: Look out for others. But do not disregard yourself. True happiness will come only when you find the right balance. You have as much right to your love, as they do.

Lesson 3: Be the best you can – the best daughter, the best wife, the best mother.

Revised Lesson 3: Don’t take your impact in people’s lives too seriously. Nobody is going to stop existing just because you are dead.

As for the question of who taught me these lessons, well life has its minions. Sometimes I called them my parents, sometimes my spouse, and sometimes good old death.
