Dad sits glued to the television. There is yet another exposé being debated. Some yesteryear actress’s husband has been arrested for producing soft porn.
I pick up my ice cream and make my way back to my room.
“Did you see this?” dad hollers out to me. “They are ruining the youth of our country.”
“Who? The media? Yes, I agree. They should flash a banner that says The user assumes any and all risk of intellectual damage from the consumption of this content. A complete system overhaul is long overdue!”
Dad looks at me confused.
“Dad, there are bigger problems in the country. These so-called breaking-news are just tactics to divert the attention of the tractable viewer from far more serious issues.”
“An affront to our culture is an important issue.”
“Have you heard about Pegasus? That is an affront to our constitution.”
Dad is back listening to the next rant on the television. I guess this conversation is now moot.
