I am not the original

nor will I be the last of my kind

They may cage my body but cannot imprison my mind

Cicatrix of time make me hold my tongue

A lifetime of pretending and basking on crumbs

Proprioception is my greatest ally

But my thoughts are luminous and in outcry

Maybe I’ll never ever break out of this trap

Maybe I’ll never mix it up

But I’ve done my bit to break the cycle

Raised a son who is decent and unbridled

Whose thoughts are unfettered and dogma free

Whose wings are not clipped so he may just be

I am not the original nor will I be the last of my kind

I may not be the strongest but my bit I have tried
